My story

All of our dogs are spayed/neutered, shots current (DHPP, Bordetella and Rabies where applicable), dewormed, flea and tick treated, and microchipped.  * If you are interested in a dog, please first read the biography on the dog (keep scrolling down for the bio!) and then go to our website, www.dpsrescue.com for an application. Our adoption fees vary. Each biography will specifically list the adoption fee.Adoption fee: $700 Meet Solitaire!   This 14–16 week old Lab-BC mix puppy may have come from an overcrowded shelter, but he’s settling into home life like a little pro— and charming everyone along the way. When Solitaire first arrived, he was a shy, quiet observer of the world. But with some love and patience, he’s blossomed into a sweet, gentle pup who “talks” to his people in soft, happy whines, especially when they come home. He loves baby talk, belly rubs, and curling up at your feet—or in his favorite nap spot nearby.   Solitaire starts his mornings early with a quick potty break, then snoozes until breakfast at 7 a.m. After a good meal and a bit of playtime with his Chihuahua foster brother, it’s nap time again (this boy loves a good snooze). He gets three meals a day and is just as happy cuddling as he is romping around with another dog or stealing bones in a friendly game of tug.   He’s not fully housetrained yet (he IS still a baby!), but he’s getting used to outdoor potty breaks and sleeps in his crate at night. He might whine a bit at first— he'd rather be snuggled next to you— but he settles in soon enough.   Playful but not hyper, affectionate but not clingy, Solitaire strikes the perfect balance of energy and calm. He’s great with other dogs and gentle with kids, and would thrive in a home with another playful pup and people who enjoy cuddles, quiet moments, and a little puppy “conversation.”   Why adopt Solitaire? Because you’ll never feel more loved than when he softly whines a welcome-home “I missed you.” He’s pure-hearted, adorably talkative, and just the right mix of playful puppy and loyal companion.July 23, 2025, 1:34 pm

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Solitaire, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
