My story

Hi, I'm Kahlua! My journey hasn't been easy. I came from a large-scale puppy mill in Colorado, where more than 150 of us lived in terrible conditions. My nine sisters and I were matted, dirty, and scared when we were rescued. But then something amazing happened - we were brought all the way to Wisconsin to start fresh. Of all my sisters, I'm one of the more reserved ones. The world still feels big and unfamiliar to me, and I'm learning how to take it all in at my own pace. I may not rush up for attention, but if you move slowly and speak softly, I'll watch you with curious eyes - and maybe even come closer for some gentle pets. To make matters worse, I have chronic ear infections as well as dry eye, most likely effects of my poor living conditions in the past. With proper care and medication, I should be able to thrive regardless! I've never lived in a home before, so everything from flooring to food bowls is brand new to me. But I'm trying. I'm good with other dogs and would love to have a calm, confident dog friend who can help me feel more secure. Respectful children who understand the importance of going slow would be okay, too. What I need most is someone with patience and a big heart - someone who can offer me a quiet place to heal, grow, and eventually feel safe enough to shine in my own way.
