My story

Hi!  I am Lux! I am a beautiful little Chihuahua mix girl.  I am super outgoing and super friendly.  I love all the dogs.  I love all the people.  I have bursts of energy when I want to run around and play.  But most of the time, I just want to sit by my person and snuggle in for a nap. I play well with others, even the big dogs, because I am respectful and super fun.  I love to run, play with toys, and wrestle.  Even though I am a small chihuahua girl, I am much tougher than I look.  I do great with food and toy removal.  I readily accept corrections from other doggos and from humans when I overstep someone’s boundaries.  I am a good eater and can freely feed without overeating.  My foster person says I am more of a grazer, preferring to take small nibbles of food throughout the day and not sit down for a full meal. I have only been out of the shelter for a short period of time, but I am very quickly learning my Good Dog skills.  Potty training is going really well, and I use a potty pad like a professional.  I am just starting to transition to potty outside.  I love to run with the other doggos in my foster home when we run to the door, go outside, and potty before we play.  If I am given a reasonable schedule of potty times, I am accident free.  If there is ever a time when I can’t be let out on my regular schedule, I am happy to use a potty pad until we can get back on track. My leash walking still needs a bit of work.  Not because I don’t love good walkies, but because I am just so snuggly that I really prefer to be carried from sniffy place to sniffy place.  I do well wearing a harness and will walk on a leash with encouragement, so it is just a matter of time before I agree that leash walking is a fun way to get outside and explore.  I am working on “sit”.  Because I am more attention motivated than food motivated it is going a little bit slow.  Besides, who doesn’t think “sit beside me on the couch so we can snuggle” is a much better skill than just “sit”?  I tried learning “off”, but it just didn’t seem necessary.  I sometimes jump up on people, but then they pick me up and snuggle with me, so who really needs to learn “off”.  But, just in case, I will continue to work on that skill. When it comes to my greatest skill so far, it has to be my “snuggle”.  I do love all the people and most of them seem to love me.  So, I am VERY good at snuggling.  I can sit quietly in your lap, I can lay next to you on a chair or sofa, and I readily accept pets and rubs from anyone willing to offer them.  I can be a little insistent when I give kisses, but I am working on limiting my urge to kiss/lick everybody. I think I am the perfect little pupper.  If you agree, come visit me at an RMPR adoption event.  Then let’s get to snuggling. ##2461486##
