My story

My foster writes: Ever met a cat who plays fetch, watches TV, is an iPad gamer, and just might outsmart you? Sweetie's got all that wrapped up in one velvet-soft, toy-chasing, affection-loving package. At just a year old, Sweetie is equal parts playful explorer and tender-hearted buddy. She'll chase toys on a string like her life depends on it, drag her little mouse toy back to you for another round of fetch, and then pause-just long enough-for head scratches and heart-melting meows. (Seriously, her meow might be the sweetest sound on earth.)Sweetie loves to give and receive love. She's smart, curious, good with other cats, and especially good at respecting boundaries-until she's ready to knock them down with affection. She thrives in a home where she can climb, run, and play (a window perch and some vertical territory would earn you bonus points). While she's not quite a lap cat yet, she's already your loyal shadow and affectionate sidekick. She gets along well with other playful cats, adapts beautifully to routines, and has purr-sonality for days. She'll do best with someone who lets her warm up on her own terms-and then gets ready for a lot of love in return. If you're looking for a quirky, clever companion who just might be the perfect blend of fun and feline sweetness... Sweetie is ready to bring the love (and the mouse toy).A volunteer writes:Sweetie is a young and gorgeous Calico girl who came to us with many other cats, all of them quite shy and in shock to have lost their home and family. Sweetie was "frozen" in place at the back of her kennel for quite a while but started to bloom like a flower in the snow, slowly but surely. She is still timid, needs some coaxing, gentle words and slow petting. She cares for treats but personal attention is what she is looking for. Sweetie slides on her side and eases herself slowly toward me. Her head is in my hand and she stretches her legs and back, telling me that she is happy and comfortable with our encounter(see her video). I know she needs more "work" but she is getting there. An understanding and loving owner and a low traffic home would likely bring back the lovely cat her former family describes as beautiful, laid back while playful and affectionate. Sweetie is already spayed and could go home..today!I would appreciate slow introductions to new people and places to help me feel safe.I prefer to call the shots and enjoy coming to you when I'm ready for pets.Sweetie tolerates attention and petting but appears fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. Primary Color: Tri Color Weight: 7.39 Age: 1yrs 2mths 1wks

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Sweetie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
