My story

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Jolene finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours  (please check your spam folder for our emails) . Jolene | 1–2 y.o. | 9 lbs | Chihuahua Extraordinaire & Snuggle Queen  Looking for the perfect mix of playful pup and expert cuddler? Meet Jolene, a petite, black-coated Chihuahua with a huge heart and an even bigger love for laps. Jolene may be tiny at just 9 pounds, but she’s overflowing with personality. At around 1–2 years old, she’s got the perfect balance of youthful energy and calm companionship. She adores going on walks (she’s a rockstar on leash), loves toys, bones, and car rides, and has never met a dog she didn’t like—big or small! Her current bestie is a 40-pound Lab/Pittie mix, and she’d be thrilled to have a playful canine sibling in her forever home. This little sweetheart is over 95% house-trained (we’ve only seen one accident!), and though she doesn't signal to go out, she’s doing beautifully with a consistent routine. She’s never been destructive and is fine being home alone—as long as she has a dog friend nearby. She hasn’t been tested completely solo, so a home with another pup or someone home most of the day would be ideal. While Jolene hasn’t met children yet, her loving nature and gentle temperament suggest she’d do well with kids. She greets all people with joy (yes, she jumps when excited—but we think she just wants to get closer for kisses). Things Jolene loves: Belly rubs and being under the covers Dancing with joy when she's happy Every single toy and treat she can get her paws on Sitting on your lap while you work or relax Things she doesn’t love: Honestly… we haven’t found anything yet! Jolene is one of those dogs who just radiates happiness. Whether she’s trotting alongside you on a walk or curled up on the couch, she’s simply grateful to be near her people (and dogs). If you’re looking for a cheerful, snuggly, low-maintenance companion who brings joy wherever she goes — Jolene is your girl. Ready to bring this little ray of sunshine home? Fill out an adoption application today and get ready for the cutest couch buddy you’ve ever had! If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
