Hi friends! My name is Bonnie and I'm at the Santa Barbara Campus. I'm a 2 1/2 year old Australian Shepherd who is eagerly awaiting a new home! I've had an unfortunate upbringing; I was born into this world deaf and blind - the awful result of irresponsible breeding. Someone wanted a 'unique' looking dog and didn't consider the outcome. So, they got me: a 'Double Merle' Aussie. After being kept in the backyard and sleeping in a doghouse, I was brought into the shelter while I was still a wee little pup. I was taken in by a kind couple but due to life changes, they were no longer able to keep me. I love food, plush toys and can sniff out my favorite hoomans! I am otherwise healthy, very friendly, gentle, and ready to learn. There is a lot of information online about how to train dogs like me; I can be housetrained, crate trained & taught manners and tricks. If you're interested in me, please do research since I am special needs and will need a very special person to take me home. I would do best as a single dog in an adult only home where I can get a solid routine. My special person will also be ready to dedicate all of their time and attention to helping me become the best dog I can be! My case is heartbreaking, but that doesn't mean I can't enjoy a full life of enrichment and adventure (and make sure to add in sunbathing to my daily to do list)! Interested in meeting me? Adoption Centers are open daily 12-4:30pm, closed Wednesdays. Adoptions are on a first-come first served basis. For more information, please email Adopt@SBHumane.org or call 805-964-4777. When I am adopted, I will have been spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. My adopters will receive a certificate for a free veterinary exam and our partners at Purina will provide a supply of food for my first few days at home. My adoption fee helps support our community programs and the next animal who needs our help!
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Bonnie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
