My story

Due to her medical history and dietary needs, adopters must have a veterinarian and be able to continue her prescription diet. Vuka will not be placed on a first-come, first-served basis. We’re looking for the right match—someone committed to her long-term health and ongoing veterinary care. Meet Vuka, a stunning Maine Coon who’s as charming as she is beautiful. This talkative girl loves to chat with her humans and isn't shy about asking for attention—expect gentle head boops to remind you that it’s petting time! Vuka is incredibly affectionate and thrives on human interaction. During the day, she enjoys lounging around and catching up on her beauty sleep, preferably somewhere sunny with a great window view. But once the sun sets, this majestic girl is ready to play! She’s got a playful streak that comes alive at night, and she’s also a skilled mouser—bonus points if your home comes with critter-chasing opportunities. You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available cats in the shelter. (Cats in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the cat first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a cat for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available on Saturdays and during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All cat adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies vaccine -current distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -FeLV/FIV blood test -microchip implanted & registered to the adopter -treatment of fleas/ticks/ear mites -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days after adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your new pet.
