Zoey might be shy at first, but this soulful pup is full of quiet love just waiting to bloom. With her little platypus waddle and soft, searching eyes, she’s easy to adore, even when she’s unsure. Zoey takes her time getting to know new people, but with a little patience and a few treats, she’ll start to show you her tender side. Out in the yard, she slowly warmed up, eventually resting her head on a volunteer’s lap, her way of saying, “I trust you.” She walks calmly on leash, prefers a low-key environment, and is learning that the world can be a kind and safe place. Because of her short stature and stiff back legs, she may need a little help with steps and kennel entry, but she’ll meet your support with quiet gratitude. Zoey is looking for a gentle home that will give her the time and space she needs to feel safe. In return, she’ll offer quiet companionship, soft snuggles, and a reminder that love doesn’t always shout… sometimes it whispers. Meet Zoey at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm BEHAVIOR 07/17/2025 volunteer notes: Zoey is a sweet low rider who may be on the fearful side now, but she’s got a heart of gold in that compact lil body. She takes a little time to warm up to new friends, but is easy to adore & her lil platypus waddle is very cute (albeit sad). Once she knows she can trust you, she’ll allow light handling & take treats from your hand. We spent some time in the vol office together & she was happily curled up by my feet while I filled out her Walksheet 07/17/2025 volunteer notes: KENNEL PRESENTATION: Zoey was sitting on her bed facing away from me shivering in her kennel. I offered her a few treats, which she didn’t take. Still she leashed up easily, but needed a bit of pressure to get up off her bed and out of the kennel. Once up she waddled out of the shelter. Her back legs seemed a bit stiff. LEASH SKILLS: Zoey didn’t pull on her leash at all. She walked beside me right into the yard. SOCIABILITY: Zoey needs time to warm up. It was a good half hour before I handled her in any way. She slowly sniffed around the yard & relieved herself, walked over to me a few times, & eventually settled down beside me. At this point I offered her treats & she began to take them from my hand, which was when I began to pet her gently as she allowed. After we were warmed up to one another she rested her head on my lap. PLAY & TOYS: Sniffed a stuffie a few times but we didn’t engage with it. DOG INTERACTION: No dogs seen RETURNING TO KENNEL: Needed a second volunteer to help boost her back into her kennel, due to her short legs & possibly a bit of fear. COLOR LEVEL: Blue ACCT Philly is located at 111 West Hunting Park Ave in. We are open for adoptions 7 days a week. Please visit www.acctphilly.org/adopt for details.
