My story

Meet Sheriff, a 2-year-old staffy mix who’s learning what it means to feel safe and loved. Found as a stray, Sheriff came to us scared and unsure of the world. But once he trusts you, he’s as loyal as they come—a true velcro dog who wants nothing more than to be close to his person.Sheriff carries himself with a stately, guardian-like presence. He would thrive in a calm, adult-only home where he can feel secure and loved. Loud noises and busy environments overwhelm him, so he’s searching for someone patient who can help him build confidence at his own pace.He’s tolerant of other dogs but prefers to keep his person’s attention all to himself. Sheriff loves hugs, enjoys playing fetch, and is starting to discover that life can be fun. Our team is helping him get braver every day, and basic obedience training will start soon to help him shine even brighter.If you’re looking for a devoted companion who just needs a chance, Sheriff is waiting. All he needs is someone who believes in him. If interested in meeting him, he is located at our offsite location, The Transition Center, which is a quieter environment.
