My story

Meet Cherokee – A Gentle Survivor Ready to Be Loved   From the quiet woods of rural Mississippi, where strays often wander unseen and unsupported, comes a story of quiet strength, grace, and resilience — meet Cherokee, a beautiful German Shepherd girl who is ready to start a new chapter filled with love and security.   Cherokee was found roaming the forest with her litter of young puppies. who were believed to be around 10–12 weeks old. No one knows exactly how she ended up there, but what we do know is this: despite all odds, Cherokee remained gentle, calm, and trusting. While her puppies were wary and skittish, Cherokee approached with quiet hope — not fear.   Now estimated to be about 4 years old and weighing 58 pounds (she could benefit from gaining about 10 more), Cherokee is one of the most serene and sweet dogs we’ve ever rescued. Her gentle spirit was never more evident than when she stood completely still, allowing over 100 embedded ticks to be removed without a single flinch. Her quiet acceptance of care, despite everything she’s been through, is truly remarkable.   Since arriving at her foster home on July 11th, Cherokee has shown just how special she is. She’s:   Wonderful with other dogs Gentle and respectful of cats Loves meeting new people and being spoken to kindly Rides well in the car (just needs a little help getting in!)   Cherokee will be spayed on July 14th and will be ready for adoption immediately after. This girl has begun her journey toward healing, love, and stability — and she’s ready to share her heart with a forever family.  Don’t miss out on the chance to welcome one of the most loving, peaceful, and soulful dogs we’ve had the honor to know.  To adopt Cherokee, please email ccrtennessee@gmail.com   Include your city and state in your message.   We adopt locally in Tennessee and also transport from Nashville to the Northeast.  Cherokee is ready to leave the woods behind — and walk into a future filled with love    PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.July 23, 2025, 11:42 am
