Meet Lewis – A Snuggly Survivor Ready for His Second Chance Lewis has been through more than any dog ever should. Rescued from a heartbreaking hoarding situation where love and care were in short supply, this gentle soul is now ready to write a new chapter — one filled with peace, snuggles, and the unconditional love he’s always deserved. A 3-4-year-old mix of Sheltie and Great Pyrenees, Lewis weighs 53 pounds and carries a quiet strength that only comes from surviving hard times. In his former life, there was no comfort, no spay/neuter care, and constant tension as unaltered dogs fought over territory and mates. The man who owned them has since passed away (May 2025), and with that chapter closed, Lewis is finally learning what safety feels like. And oh, what a sweetheart he is. Lewis is a true snuggler — his happiest moments are spent curled up beside his foster mom, head resting in her lap, just soaking in the love. Whether it’s a lazy Sunday on the couch or simply shadowing you from room to room, he finds joy just being near his person. He’s calm, gentle, and deeply affectionate once he feels safe. Brushing his thick, gorgeous coat (a soft, fluffy Pyr-like texture) is one of his favorite bonding activities. While he does need regular grooming, Lewis is not a shave-down kind of guy — just a trim and a good brushing with the right comb will keep him looking and feeling great. Lewis is still learning the ropes of leash walking and life outside the yard, but he’s making progress every day. Because of an old, untreated injury as a puppy — a broken foot that healed on its own — he walks with a slight limp, but it doesn’t slow him down or require medical intervention. His ideal home? Quiet. Patient. Understanding. A family that will let him bloom at his own pace. He’s great with other respectful dogs and is fine with cats, too — he just doesn’t do well with pushy or dominant animals. What he needs most is kindness, consistency, and someone who sees the beautiful, resilient heart inside him. Lewis doesn’t need long walks or high-energy adventures — a calm yard to relax in and a loving human to call his own is all he’s hoping for. If you believe in second chances, if you have room in your heart for a dog who just wants to love and be loved, Lewis is waiting for you. Come meet your new best friend.
