Meet Charlie Waffles His family surrendered him after 9 years just this week because they are having yet another baby and there “wouldn’t be room in the apartment for him”. Guess the new baby is going in the dog crate 🤷♀️. He’s a nervous guy who came to us just before 4th of July weekend and then had to deal with people shooting off fireworks all day and nite all weekend- as if he wasn’t scared enough that his whole world turned upside down. He had a heart murmur also and some heart disease that he’s on medication for longterm to help prevent further disease as long as possible. The details- Charlie Waffles is a 9 year old mix of some sort, 17lbs full grown. His owner wrote he was a “multies” which we assume meant Maltese but he doesn’t look much like one- would guess Yorkie, Shih Tzu, maybe schnauzer. He was pretty matted and unkempt and had an itchy ear infection that had been untreated for a while and hadn’t been to a vet in many years. So it’s probably for the best he was surrendered. He was in a busy home with lots of children and visitors and it sounded like it was too much for him and he would be best in a calmer home without a lot of people coming and going. It takes him a little bit to warm up to new people and he’s a shy guy but once he bonds he very sweet and loyal. He lived peacefully with a cat (who was also given up and is up for adoption through another rescue) and likes other small dogs, would probably enjoy living with other animal friends. Email njwoof@cs.com to meet Charlie Waffles in Northern NJ Since COVID-19, we are no longer holding our Sunday adoption events until further notice, but we are scheduling meet and greet appointments with a specific dog or dogs at our meeting spots in Northern NJ. To streamline adoptions, all communication before, during, and after the adoption process is done through email only: we have limited volunteers able to return phone calls. Submit an application from our website www.secondchance.petfinder.com to speed up the adoption process and email any questions to us at njwoof@cs.com. Please check your email regularly for next steps. All our dogs reside in foster care in Northern NJ until adoption and we do not have a central shelter location. We are a small all-volunteer organization focused on rescuing local dogs from area shelters, as well as accepting some surrenders and puppy mill rescues.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Charlie Waffles, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
