My story

Twix is a very sweet hound who will appreciate a quiet home in a non-urban setting. Twix came to us from a Virginia shelter and was heartworm positive. He's received heartworm treatment in a New Jersey foster home, where he's learned to appreciate life as a pet. Twix loves other dogs and gets along with cats too. Loud noises make him nervous, so he'd like to avoid traffic, motorcycles, fireworks, and needs some TLC during storms. He's nervous walking on a leash in busy or noisy areas. Twix is a loving, low-energy hound who enjoys being outside and just hanging out with his people. He's been happy to have someone around during the day and his foster works from home. He is housebroken and does well with his foster's doggie door. He has never lept onto furniture, stolen food or exhibited any negative behavior, he's not a barker either. Twix has been great around small children and visitors but may not interact much with new people. He sleeps on the floor in his foster's bedroom, or in an open crate. He's just a quiet and gentle hound who needs some love and cuddles. His ideal home will have a fenced yard and at least one other dog for companionship. Twix is 3 - 4 years old and weighs about 50 lbs. His NJ foster is willing to Facetime, share videos and speak with any interested applicants. Twix will be ready for transport in early August. Our dogs are in foster homes throughout the area or in some cases in the south waiting to be transported north. We do not have a physical shelter. Once the phone interview is completed, we will check your vet reference as well as a personal reference and conduct a home visit.
