Gertie

My story

Gertie is as sweet as they come. She wants to be near her people as much as possible and is a big lap dog. She is very dog-friendly and would love at least one doggie friend. She gives sweet little kisses and takes treats very gently. She loves meeting new people and even going to the vet! She also enjoys car rides. Gertie is exceptional with children and would enjoy little ones to love. She would make a great therapy dog - at our latest adoption event, she enjoyed meeting people and being pet for almost four hours! Gertie has a great personality - chill but also a little impish. She loves perching in chairs, soaking up the sun, taking neighborhood walks, and splashing around in her kiddie pool. She likes nylabones but hasn't figured out other toys yet. Gertie is house-trained, enjoys her crate when it's open, but prefers not to be alone, walks well on leash, and knows some basic commands like sit and lie down. Her foster mom is helping her get fit and healthy. Gertie has hypothyroidism and will need medication and prescription food to prevent bladder stones for the rest of her life. This sweet girl deserves to be the center of someone's universe!
