My story

Meet Elvis, an 11-month-old cattle dog mix with a big personality and a whole lot of energy to burn! Elvis was surrendered when his owner’s financial situation changed, and now he’s on the hunt for a new family to keep up with his busy brain and active lifestyle. This sweet and funny guy is house trained, good with other dogs, and used to be a regular at doggy daycare. He loves to romp, play, and explore the world around him—and he’s definitely not one to sit still for long. Elvis is the kind of dog who needs a job, and if you don’t give him one, he’ll come up with his own. His previous owner reports he once made a hobby of sneaking into the neighbor’s shed, stealing tools, and piling them up in the living room. So, yeah… he’s creative. Elvis did live with a cat in his previous home, but he enjoyed chasing them a little too much—so if you’ve got a cat, it’ll need to be a confident one who doesn’t mind a high-energy housemate. Elvis will thrive with a family who can provide lots of physical exercise and mental stimulation—think hikes, training games, puzzle toys, and maybe a return to doggy daycare. If you’re looking for a fun, clever, slightly mischievous sidekick, Elvis might just be your guy. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All puppy dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies (if old enough) and kennel cough vaccinations -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
