My story

Meet Clara! 🐾 Clara is a beautiful shepherd-hound mix who’s still learning how to navigate the world with confidence. She’s very nervous and skittish in new environments and tends to express her anxiety by pacing, jumping, and pulling on the leash. On walks, Clara often circles around your legs and jumps with excitement or uncertainty, and once in the pen, she may try to jump the gate in an effort to escape the unfamiliar. Despite her anxious nature, Clara is starting to show that she enjoys gentle affection and pets. She’s not currently motivated by treats or toys, but with time and patience, that could change. Right now, what Clara needs most is a calm, understanding home with someone who can patiently guide her, help her build trust, and show her that the world isn’t such a scary place. With the right person by her side, Clara has the potential to grow into a loyal and loving companion. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs if you already have a dog.
