My story

Meet Ouiser 8 years old • 12.5 lbs • Chinese Crested / Yorkie mixIf you’re a Steel Magnolias fan, you know the original Ouiser was strong-willed, hilarious, and full of love—and this little lady carries that same spark.Ouiser is an 8-year-old, nearly blind sweetheart who proves that small dogs can have the biggest personalities. While her vision may be limited, her love for people is crystal clear—she’ll happily trot over for affection, belly rubs, or a tasty snack. She thrives on gentle attention, cozy snuggles, and calm companionship.True to her namesake, Ouiser has her own opinions and isn’t afraid to share them. She doesn’t care for surprises—especially from grabby hands or pushy animals—so she’s searching for a peaceful home where her boundaries will be respected. She’d love to be the one-and-only pet, or with animals who will give her plenty of personal space. When she’s not curled up on the couch or snuggled in a soft blanket, Ouiser enjoys leisurely walks, lounging in sunny spots, and carrying around her favorite plush toys. Her silly little snorts and loyal heart will quickly win you over once she feels safe and settled.&#226&#156&#168 Ouiser’s perfect match:- Adults only, or older/respectful kids- A calm, low-drama home- No other pets (or very easygoing ones who give her space)- Someone who appreciates that tiny dogs with big feelings deserve love, patience, and structureHer grooming needs are simple—regular trims and sun protection keep her looking and feeling her best. With her easy energy level (low to medium), she’s the perfect companion for someone wanting a loyal, loving sidekick with just the right amount of sass. So, if you’ve ever said, “I’m not crazy, I’ve just been in a very bad mood for 40 years,” and laughed at yourself while saying it—you might just be Ouiser’s kind of person.Adoption InfoDogs are not placed on a first-come, first-serve basis—we match each animal to their best home. Applications may take up to 48 hours to process. All CAWS animals are fixed, microchipped, and vaccinated. Ouiser’s adoption fee has been generously sponsored by an individual donor! Apply to adopt: http://caws.org/adoption-application If you are interested in adopting a CAWS pet, please fill out an online application at https://caws.org/adoption-applicationSeptember 14, 2025, 7:18 am
