Meet Bear, a super sweet 9 year old neutered male purebred miniature schnauzer, weighing about 25 lbs! Bear was surrendered by his owners when they were unable to continue caring for him (through no fault of his own). They wanted to ensure that he went to a good home, so they chose to surrender him to our rescue. (Note: he was recently shaved due to matting, so he looks a little funny right now while his coat is growing back). This distinguished senior gentleman may be on the older side, but he's got lots of life left in him! He is a happy, friendly boy who gets along well with everyone (dogs, people, kids - not cat tested, but we feel he would likely be fine with cats). He is lower energy and generally ready for a nap at all times, but he does enjoy joining you on adventures as well (he recently visited the beach for the first time and loved going in the water!). Bear loves to sunbathe on the porch and chase birds in the yard (but he is a terrible hunter, he's just curious about them!). He is excellent in the car and will happily look out the window the whole time. Fun fact: he will stand on his hind legs to give hugs! From Bear's current foster: "Bear is an AWESOME dog. He’s very affectionate with me and likes snuggling up, but he isn’t clingy. Wants to know where I am and follows me around the house/yard/property, but if I close the door to my office he doesn’t whine when he can’t see me. He loves my yard and sunbathing on the porch, but I think would be fine in an apartment. No trouble with stairs. He will let out an occasional bark when he hears one of his foster siblings, but he is generally quiet. He can be a bit persnickety when it comes to baths, ear cleaning, nail trimming - does a growl but not aggressive and let me get it done. I also took his temp a few times when he was having some stomach upset, and he let me know he wasn’t pleased but, again, let me get it done. He’s a very special dog." Bear is medically up to date, crate trained, and housebroken. A 100% good doggo! Apply to meet this special boy today! Click HERE for Adoption Application: pawsrescueleague.org/adopt Adoption fees vary based on the dog and are not negotiable. As a small rescue that does not receive government funding or grants, we rely on adoption fees to stay afloat. Adoption fees help cover the following: vaccinations, wellness exams, heartworm/4DX testing, parasite prevention, spay/neuter (age-appropriate), microchipping, transport expenses, and other rescue-related overhead/administrative costs. Paws Rescue League, Inc is an all-inclusive rescue that does NOT only rescue puppies and young, healthy dogs. We make a point to also rescue seniors, dogs with special needs, moms, and other “less desirable” dogs, knowing that we will likely incur higher veterinary expenses and that these dogs may take longer to get adopted. As such, an individual adoption fee is not only reimbursing PRL for expenses directly related to that dog, but it is also helping us to continue our mission of taking in dogs that would otherwise be too much of a financial burden to save. We believe that ALL dogs deserve a second chance. Thank you for your support and understanding! ##2453063##
