My story

Muttville is obviously home to a host of mythical cryptids, because a place filled with so much love and magic is filled with all sorts of wonders. If you look carefully, you might spot a Jackalope, a scruffy terrier mix whose magnificent mane can easily be styled into a wide assortment of splendid hairdos. One of the fan favorites is his masterful mohawk, which is adorable on top of his head but even better from a side view. Jackalope, like his mythical namesake, can be hard to spot, but only because he’s a quieter gentleman who is often squirreled away for a snooze or glued to a volunteer’s lap for a nap. This gentle boy enjoys all the pets and snuggles, and he’s been getting along swimmingly with the other mutts. If you’re a fan of cute cryptids and looking to add a mythical mutt to your collection, see if you can spot Jackalope today. We can’t promise that you’ll see Bigfoot, but Muttville is full of magical mutts who can add some whimsy to your life! Here's some notes from his foster: Jackalope ("Jack") is a lover. He wants to be around his people at all times but seems to be okay for small chunks of time solo. We are working our way up to 2-hours of alone time. Jack wants to be where the action is, so he is getting his steps in while he follows you from room to room. Once you are settled in for a snooze or a good read, he is there to keep you company. He saves his business for the outdoors. He likes walks and exploring the neighborhood. He will hang out in the backyard if you are there to keep him company. He is great around kids (11-years-old) and seems okay around general City sounds. He seems to be part cat and will walk around & over you until he gets in the right snuggle position. He was good around other dogs but seems to prefer the two-legged animals to the four-legged. He should be belted or held or put in a carrier when traveling by car as he migrates to be the driver's co-captain pretty quickly. He does well on a leash and is working on commands like sit and stay.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Jackalope 13113, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
