Ripper is between one and three years old and is in Marion, Indiana. He is at the Marion Grant County Humane Society. Staff at shelter haven’t had Ripper very long and owner didn’t provide much information when dropping him off. Owner reports that Ripper lunged at family children and aggressed to family dogs. But Ripper behaved well when brought in with other surrendered dog. Ripper responds well to kennel staff. He has been vaccinated for rabies parvovirus/distemper, and bordatella. He is heartworm negative. Evaluator remarks: Ripper is super lovable and came right up to my husband and the other men who were there. He also came right up to me and was also very friendly. Shelter states he is very friendly and playful with other dogs and if the other dog shows disinterest, he moves on without pushing to play. Ripper tried to jump on my husband but stopped when told no. He took treats very gently but was more interested in attention. He has zero issues being petted everywhere. Physically, Ripper looks very good except he is a little underweight. He knows sit, down, stay, shake and come. He does pull on a leash so will need some leash training. The shelter says he doesn't resource guard food or toys. Ripper is curious to check out toys but not enough to want to play when he can get human attention. He is a friendly, goofy, loveable boy who desperately wants attention, wants to be a lap dog and loves to give a good Rottie Rumble while being petted! HE will immediately give you his paw when you stop as if to say, “Hey you…don’t stop loving me!” Ripper is 100% adoptable and this boy will make a great dog for someone. He needs someone willing to work with him and provide obedience training and he will work to please you every step of the way. No conflict with other dogs according to shelter, no food aggression, plays with other dogs when he can. Has a good stay, HUGE paws! He’s going to be a big boy! I think he will be a lot of fun to play with and to love. He will gladly provide a lapdog experience if that is what you are looking for (and probably if your are not!) HE loves to snuggle, loves to be petted, loves to interact with humans and was so gentle. We hated leaving him at the shelter and wanted to put him in a good home right away! Whoever adopts this boy is going to have an amazing dog! I recommend regular walks and exercise and some dog obedience training classes and I think you’ll find the most amazing canine friend! HE is eager to please. It is our assumption that whoever surrendered the dog did not understand the breed when they got him.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Ripper, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
