My story

Augie is a four year old, healthy male dog, He is neutered, and lives with his owner in Sun Prairie, Wisconsin. Placement as soon as earliest would be best for Augie to minimize confusion in his life. Owner is divorcing and will not be able to keep Augie. Augie has been with family since he was a puppy. Augie’s last vet visit was June 6, 2025. He received Lyme, rabies, distemper/parvo, bordatella vaccinations, and was tested for heart worm - a negative result. He is on a heartworm preventative. Augie can be a little anxious with blood draws but otherwise does well with vet. Augie behaves well with men, women and children, even cats. He will chase small wildlife when outside but responds well with recall. Augie is crate trained and housebroken. He loves to play with children and is equally happy being their lap dog. He is not a vocal dog and does not bark often. Augie can be protective of his food. Augie enjoys car rides. He has plenty of training experience and good recall. No separation anxiety has been observed. Notes from evaluator: Augie is a big love bug and is very friendly with men and women. He does well with cats and has a cat housemate. Per the owner, he is good with male and female dogs and wants to play. He is currently in a home with girls ages 9 and 3 and does well. Augie is housebroken and crate trained. At night he decides if he wants to sleep on his own couch or in his kennel. He takes treats gently and he has a friendly response when you touch him. He looks great but is currently blowing his coat and shedding. Augie knows come, sit and down for cues. He is very good on a leash and just wants to please you. Owner stated that when Augie was a puppy he had a brief period where he resource guarded his food but that is not the case now that he is grown. He is very calm and composed and had no reaction to a loud noise of sudden hand movement. He actually came over to check if I was OK. Augie did the "rottie lean-in" within a few seconds of meeting me. Overall, Augie is one of the very best rotties I have ever seen! He is a beautiful boy inside and out!!

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Augie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
