My story

Hi! My name is MISTICA (my name come from the Mexican wrestler because of the markings on my face, isn't that neat?!) and here is some info about me: PHYSICAL INFO: Breed: Mexican Border Collie Mix Age: approx. 10 months old Gender: Female Weight: 37 lbs (17 kgs)  Height: 52 cm (paws to top of my head) Length: 80 cm (head to butt) Neck Circumference: 33 cm Chest Circumference: 59 cm Current Location: MEXICO CITY RESCUE STORY - My story is a sad one - not of neglect or abuse, but about how status is more important than your own family. My old "family" purchased me thinking I was a purebred Border Collie...but as I started getting older, they thought I looked different and they didn't want me anymore. They were going to have me put down, can you believe that?!? Not because I did anything bad, or was sick, just because I didn't look the way they thought I should look for their own status. I was pretty distraught when I arrived at the pound awaiting my doomsday, but thankfully someone from the pound reached out to La Casa and asked if I could move there. TEMPERAMENT - I am a loving, playful pup who is always ready to make new friends and have some FUN! I don't know if you noticed, but I'm also SUPER DANG CUTE! I am a happy-go-lucky gal who enjoys walks, trips to the park and chasing toys. I really enjoy trips to the park where I can socialize, sniff, and zoom around. I am very intelligent and obedient even at my young age! I am just so full of sweetness and innocence after my terrible start in this world. ENERGY LEVEL - Medium - I am a playful, young pup who needs a sufficient amount of daily exercise (both physical and mental). Once I'm tuckered out, I am more than happy to snooze and cuddle! GETS ALONG WITH: Kids – Unknown Dogs –  Yup! I get along well with the other dogs at the shelter! Cats – Unknown PREY DRIVE - Unknown. I’m not too sure how I’ll react around cats/squirrels/rabbits etc., so my adopter needs to be prepared and willing to train me through these behaviours, should they arise. TRAINING: Leash skills – Work in progress. I'm looking for an adopter who will show me the ropes and teach me how to be a superstar on leash since I am so young! A well-fitted harness and some dedicated leash training will help me be successful, but I am doing a great job so far! House trained – Work in progress. Frequent potty breaks and positive reinforcement will help me learn housetraining in my new home :) Please Note: WCP highly encourages adopters to do some research and training on their own before their dog arrives.  HEALTH NOTES: I am spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped. I will come to Canada with proof of all my vaccines and test records. I will be tested for Heartworm etc. before flying North. NOTE: It is not uncommon for rescue dogs to require dental work/cleaning after they are adopted. West Coast Paws does not cover the costs of dental work and/or vet visits. These costs are the financial responsibility of the adopter.
