My story

Meet Walter, a 5-year-old Pitbull in need of a foster home while he awaits transfer to a committed rescue. This sweet, stocky boy was living as a stray until a kind team — and their dog — helped bring him in. It was their dog’s calm energy that gave Walter the confidence to approach. ?? Walter isn’t fearful — he’s anxious. During his behavior test, he was very expressive: barking, lip licking, and holding his ears back. But once you give him a little space and let him come to you, he begins to relax and connect.Walter has medium to high energy and would do best in a home where he can be both physically and mentally stimulated. He needs a yard for decompression and play, and would benefit from daily walks and enrichment activities to help build his confidence. He did well during his dog test with another pup (Sasha), showing appropriate social cues and a balanced, mirrored interaction. However, Walter is not a fan of cats, so he’ll need a feline-free home.Due to his anxious nature, kids 10+ are recommended, and always with adult supervision. With structure, patience, and a calm environment, Walter has the potential to thrive.?? A rescue is ready and waiting — all Walter needs is a foster to help him on his journey home.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt WALTER, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
