My story

Meet Myabelle, a 9-month-old chihuahua mix with a shy streak and a gentle heart. Myabelle came to us from our friends at Thomas J. O’Connor after being found as a stray, so we don’t know much about her past—such as if she’s house trained or has experience with cats, kids, or other dogs. What we do know is that Myabelle has been understandably nervous since arriving at the shelter. New people and new environments can be a little overwhelming for her, but once she’s had a little time to settle in, her sweet and friendly personality starts to shine. She’s the kind of pup who builds trust slowly but deeply. Myabelle would love a patient adopter who can give her the time and space to come out of her shell. With a little love and understanding, she’s sure to blossom. Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. (Dogs in foster care are not available for in-person visits.) #2- ADOPT REMOTELY OR PLACE A 24-HOUR HOLD** If you’re ready to adopt without meeting the dog first, or you’d like to place a non-refundable $25 hold to reserve a dog for 24 hours, just call or email us: (413) 781-4000 x 1 springfield@dakinhumane.org. We are often helping other clients when you call, but we return voicemails and emails within 24 hours. **Holds are not available for puppies under six months, on Saturdays, or during adoption events. -------------------------------------------- All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter -treatment of fleas & ticks -veterinary exam and health certificate at Dakin -free vet exam within 30 days of adoption with participating veterinarians Most pets have also received other medical care while with us. Your veterinarian may recommend additional health care for your pet.
