Fudge Sunday ACCT-A-224900 is currently considered urgent and at risk of euthanasia due to length of stay and lack of space for incoming dogs. Fudge Sunday must have confirmed placement with a RESCUE PARTNER or ADOPTER by TUESDAY, July 22ND, 2025 at 10AM. Should Fudge Sunday’s medical or behavioral status change, his urgency and timeline for placement may also change. Fudge Sunday is a playful swirl of energy and sweetness, just like his namesake treat. Found nervous and a bit shy upon arrival, this handsome fellow has been blossoming under the care of our team. He greeted volunteers with enthusiastic wiggles and happy tail “helicopters,” eagerly popping out of his kennel for walks. Once outside, he delights in exploring every scent before “topping off” his outing with a perfect potty break - indicating that he may be a housetrained pup. While Fudge Sunday can be a little barky around new canine pals at first, a gentle redirection helps him settle down, and he quickly warms up to calm, confident handlers. He walks nicely on leash once he feels secure, takes treats ever-so-gently, and absolutely melts when you offer belly rubs. You might even catch him spinning in circles with joy, as if he’s dreaming of a big scoop of ice cream on a sunny day! This sweet, sensitive boy would thrive in a patient home that understands he’s still learning to trust. If you believe in second chances and want to share plenty of love (and maybe an occasional frozen pup-friendly treat), come meet Fudge Sunday at ACCT Philly, and let this lovable “sundae” top off your day. Videos: Cuddling Fudge Sunday: https://youtu.be/_TYFFPZHqOk Fudge Sunday and Scully Drop Leash: https://youtu.be/azDjq3P7V2o Behavior Notes: Per volunteer 7/15/25: Fudge sundae came right up to the front of his kennel when I approached- he was very wiggly and spinning in circles waiting for me to get my leash out. I opened the door and slipped the leash right over his neck easily and he popped right out. When walking through the kennels he is definitely excited, pulling and jumping around. He was really happy overall, and was easy to guide. He actually walks well on leash and seems to be checked in with his handler based on leash pressure. He only pulls minimally. Very interested in exploring the smells outside! Took handling and pets all over, rolled over for belly rubs. Super sweet! Hesitated going back into kennels, but I went to take one step in and he followed me then unleashed him easily. Per staff 7/15: Fudge Sunday was easy to leash and was very bouncy and spinning as we walked through kennels. He immediately peed after getting outside, so I believe he is very housetrained. When he saw the other dog, he was a bit barky and began spinning again. He pooped and peed a few more times before we got to the yard. Through the fence, he was barking a lot and he came in hot, but the meet went well. He walked much better on the walk back to kennel, including walking near the other dog, and went in easily. Walksheet: Per volunteer 7/14: Good walk. Needed to lift into kennel. Per volunteer 7/13: Barked at dogs on leash, no meet. Very sweet boy. Per volunteer 7/12: Step in, firm pull to enter - no interest in treats, short walk. Per volunteer 7/10/25: Fudge Sunday is a sensitive fella who’s still learning to feel safe in his new surroundings. He may be shy and unsure at first, but with a little time and patience, he shows his sweet side, leaning in for pets and quietly enjoying gentle attention. This handsome boy appears to be house-trained and walks nicely on leash once he feels comfortable. He’s not quite ready for playtime yet and can be nervous around other dogs, but with kindness and stability, Fudge Sunday has every chance to blossom. If you believe in second chances and the magic of earning a dog’s trust, Fudge Sunday is waiting to meet you at ACCT Philly, open daily from 10 am to 6 pm Per staff 7/7/25: Kennel presentation: Standing quietly on the bed, came to the front, sniffed the offered treat and didn’t eat it. easy to leash. Took 5 seconds before he exited the kennel. Leash skills: Walked slowly to the door then took a pee that lasted about a full minute. Walked outside with hunched body, tail down, eyes darting. Pooped outside a few times along with more pee. Likely house trained. Sociability: Handled for his intake exam. He had middle tail, ears back, soft eyes, did 5 shake offs in the room at various intervals. Needed minimal restraint for exam and vaccines, some lip licking, tail low and still. He leaned on me while waiting for paperwork while I pet him on his back, head and sides / middle tail wagging loosely. Play: did not attempt Dog interaction: Passed by a dog in the hallway, the other dog was barking and lunging at him and he reciprocated with high tail and piloerection. Return to kennel: He stops at the front, had to enter kennel for him to follow as he would not follow a food lure. Per staff 7/6/25: dog is low growling very fearful able to leash but fearful to walk Per staff 7/6/25: Aca indicated he may know Spanish better than English. Easy to leash, and when seeing another dog walking he bee lined back to the kennel when he saw another dog. Ate treats from him. Per staff 7/6/25: Squinty hard eyes, barking and growling with head high, tail high wagging stiffly in kennel. Not eating offered treats. Recommending medication for high FAS (fear, anxiety, stress) Per staff 7/5/25: Dog was nervous in intake lobby, flailing on leash, whale eye, wouldn't move. Per finder 7/5/25: Friendly, cuddly, playful, scratched the finder’s son but did not break skin Medical Notes: URI 7/9/25: This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold".
