My story

Pattycake, Pattycake… This gal might not be able to bake you a cake as fast as she can (we don’t know, we haven’t asked yet!) But she can provide you with lots of wiggles and kisses. Pattycake was found as a stray and her finders noted her to be friendly but scared. At the shelter she has shown to love her human friends but she is still trying to work up to be the confident gal we know she can be! Pattycake would benefit from an adopter who can give her the time and patience to heal medically and put on some weight. Come meet Pattycake today, ACCT is open 10am-6pm every day. She was very eager to exit the kennel, repeatedly jumping up with her two front paws on the kennel door. After a few attempts, she was able to be leashed. She walked in pace with me out of the shelter and walked nicely outside. Once in the yard, she sniffed around and solicited attention from both handlers. She did not demonstrate knowledge of sit, but happily took treats - recommend open palm due to eagerness to eat. We did a dog meet with a male dog and she initially had a high tail and hackles raised when doing the fence meet, but then loosened up after a few minutes and then seemed uninterested. We progressed to a face to face meet and she sniffed the other dog with no issues and then disengaged and seemed uninterested. Walked nicely back to kennel and when she would see a dog in the kennels, she would pull towards them and let out a high pitched bark, but was able to be easily redirected past them. Needed a treat to go back to kennel. Volunteer 7/3/25: Patty Cake is such a sweetheart! As everyone has noted, she's a throw-away mama who's ready for some love and comfort of her own. She was easy to leash and walk through the kennels, and when we got outside she stuck closeby for snuggles and treats (emphasis on the treats). She would go sniff around for a bit then come back to check in with me for some comfort. She loves pets, especially butt scratches (she's pretty dandruffy and itchy), and will bury her face into you for cuddles. She's playful and sweet and an absolute lovebug! Volunteer 7/2/25: Patty cake had soft eyes in her kennel, she looked up at me and was leaning against the kennel, low fast tail wags. She seemed excited to see me and come out. She doesn’t walk with a lot of confidence, low head and moderate tail tuck. She ignored another dog in a yard we passed. She wags her tail at every human she sees. She loves treats and can be a bit excited but sits right away enthusiastically. I wouldn’t say she’s snatchy, but she certainly comes for those treats quick! She is a little thing and she jumps up for attention and “hugs”. Very sweet. Seemed to enjoy her off-leash exploring of the dog run. Did her business and sniffed alot. Evaluated Gold.
