Meet Baby Lee! This sweet girl is under 2 years old and the perfect blend of playful and calm and always gentle. She’s house trained, crate trained, walks well on a leash and already knows sit and lay down—and she's picking up "stay" quickly! Whether she's playing fetch or cuddling on the couch, she’s happy just being near you. Calm in the house and well-mannered out and about, she’s an easygoing companion with no signs of aggression. She loves her toys and occupies herself well. Lovable, snuggly, and eager to please, she’s ready to be the heart of a forever family. Found as a stray on June 26th, Baby Lee was in such bad shape, she could barely lift her head. After receiving some care, Baby Lee was quickly onto recovery and has shown that she’s quite the playful and happy pup. With human friends at the shelter, Baby Lee has been wiggly and loose. She’s shown that she knows some commands like ‘sit’ and will nicely take a treat from you. Baby Lee has also had a lot of fun in playgroup. She gravitates towards other dogs who like to play with a ‘rough and rowdy’ playstyle and she enjoys a good chase! For that reason, Baby Lee might be a good match for other playful pups but not a good match for cats or small animals. Please bring all members of your household and any resident dogs along to meet her. Due to her length of stay, Baby Lee is urgently seeking placement with a rescue partner, foster, or adopter. She is so gentle, calm and sweet. She is 100% house trained, walks well on a leash, knows sit, and I taught her to lay down and she’s getting really good at “stay” already. She loves toys and playing fetch. She’s also good in the crate. She’s honestly such a great dog! Meet with Barry. She was loose and wiggly, and soliciting attention from her handler and me! https://youtube.com/shorts/M-Z7rOly3pI?si=HZHyOF_IyiRZ1lwX Per staff 7/15: "Interested adopter came for meet - went middle of the road. Baby Lee would fixate occasionally and snapped a bit in frustration during the fence meet. Resident dog would ignore Baby Lee after the snap and handled the correction well. Walk along went better and Baby Lee would allow sniffs, but the best way I could put it was that Baby Lee would lightly bully Peanut whenever they would engage. She would play bow, then push into her and slightly neck." Per staff 7/10: Very sweet, easy to walk. Per volunteer 7/8: When I approached her kennel, she greeted me with a loose body and wiggly tail. Really great temperament upon leashing. I easily slipped the leash around her, and she excitedly hopped out of the kennel. She pulls moderately on leash, so would recommend a harness. She’s so unbelievably sweet and affectionate! She takes cuddles all over and leans into you with a very loose body and her tail always wagging. Very relaxed facial expressions and body language- really just loves to love. It started thunder storming when we were outside and she didn’t seem to have anxiety around it. Per staff 7/8: Very nice, loves belly rubs. Per staff 7/7: Sweet girl, easy to handle. Per volunteer 7/7: Total sweetie, loved affection, lots of kisses, tail wagging, loved walking, easy, light pull but can be corrected. Per staff 7/6, playgroup: Baby Lee was rough and rowdy, steerable, and loved playing with Bryant. She is very vocal and has a prey drive. Baby would chase after the other dogs with a high-pitched bark trying to catch them. Per staff 7/6: Standing with neutral body language at the front, loose body language. Easy to leash, pulled moderately on leash. Loose and wiggly for all body handling, very social and affiliative, solicits petting as long as I was offering. Takes treats gently, knows sit. Passed by another dog and she oriented in that direction, ears up, tail high wagging, pulling in that direction. Easy to move along and redirect with verbal praise. Easy to return to kennel and remove the leash. Gold Per volunteer 7/2: Good girl, calm. Per staff 7/2: Very excited and friendly. MEDICAL: Per an exam on 7/15: Finished 14 days Doxycycline, continuing URI signs Assessment Persistent URI Plan Start Azithromycin 7/2 Vet Exam: Objective: Minor abrasions on cranial aspect of stifles bilaterally. Scant mucoid D+ present on thermometer, no hematochezia detected. Assessment: History of URI, no clinical signs detected on PE today, on Doxycycline. Reported, unwitnessed trauma, previously non-ambulatory on presentation to ACCT, markedly improved. History of nonspecific acute or acute on chronic gastroenterocolitis and some degree of gastric functional ileus (abdominal ultrasound at PASE). History of regurgitation, resolved. History of hematochezia, resolved, some mild diarrhea still present Plan: Patient appears BAR, comfortable and ate eagerly when offered baby food in exam room. Added appetite, V+, elimination monitoring to cage. Discontinued Clavamox (suspected prescribed by PASE for abrasions) as patient is already on Doxycycline (for URI). Cont. Zofran, Fortiflora and Metro as previously prescribed. Recheck if any concerns. On 6/30, Baby Lee was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection (URI) or "doggy cold" and started on medication. She tested negative for pneumovirus and is scheduled on doxycycline until 7/14. Due to medical concerns noted upon intake, Baby Lee was transferred to an offsite hospital. While there was initially believed to be trauma, no major injuries were found. She was hospitalized from 6/26-6/29 while being treated for gastrointestinal issues including vomiting, melena (digested blood in stool), and poor appetite. She was treated with IV fluids, anti-nausea medications, antibiotics, and a feeding tube, and received continuous monitoring of vital signs and lab values. Over the four-day stay, her appetite and comfort level improved, and her heart rate and temperature remained within normal ranges. She was discharged with ongoing medications and supportive care planned. Per staff 6/26: Dog possibly hbc, can barely move, can only lift it's head a little.
