Nyah is the sweetest girl...both with people and other cats. In her foster homes, she actually really enjoyed interactions with other kitties. She is very curious and will sit patiently nearby looking longingly at you awaiting pets. In her foster home, she seemed unconcerned about relaxed dogs too. She came to us with her 5 ten day old kittens after being abandoned with her sister when the family moved away. She was a young teen kitten when they left and the kind neighbor felt bad and began feeding them and letting them in. But soon, they were pregnant and both sisters ended up in our care. Nyah is FIV+. That means she has the antibodies for FIV and she could have a compromised immune system. FIV is not contagious to other kitties except through the act of reproduction (which doesn’t happen if they are spayed/neutered) or very deep, vicious bite wounds. FIV+ kitties should live exclusively indoors, not exposed to the extra germs associated with going outside but they can live just fine with other FIV- cats. Also, FIV does not cross species so it isn’t something that can be transmitted to dogs or humans. Nyah also has a permanently snuffly nose. We are not sure if she has scarring from a past upper respiratory illness but it doesn't seem to bother her. There isn't discharge, she just sounds snuffly. Her snuffly purr and chirping is actually kind of cute. Meet Nyah at PetSmart, Bleachery Blvd, from 12-4pm on Saturday, 7/12, during our weekly adoption event. All cats are spayed/neutered, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, microchipped, FELV/FIV tested, dewormed and started on monthly flea preventative. Apply to adopt to be the first to schedule a meet and greet. All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. July 5, 2025, 2:13 am
