My story

Meet Stitch! This icy blue-eyed baby transferred to us from Long Beach Animal Care Services. Stitch was abandoned on a Long Beach bus at 5 weeks of age and 5lbs. They quickly made arrangements to transport him to their local shelter. Due to being overcapacity, and his likelihood of contracting contagious diseases at the shelter, an immediate exit request was made. We made the transfer commitment and took the 4-hour roundtrip to exit Stitch and bring him into foster care. Now 11lbs and 9 weeks of age (as of 7/4/25), Stitch is having a blast in his foster home that he shares with 5 dogs, two foster dogs (Penny & Princess), and 4 cats! Stitch is at that age where he is learning at breakneck speed, is soaking in all the good habits, is learning about expectations and boundaries, and is potty-pad trained with a combination of going potty outside! At Heart of Gold's Shelter, we do not breed discriminate and are passionate about advocating for our favorite underdog. Pitbulls, and other bully mixes, are a highly stigmatized and exploited breed that is the target of breed discrimination worldwide. Many rentals, insurance companies, and other services have them listed as a banned breed. It is important to consider the reality of these and other potential obstacles before committing to these misunderstood breeds. Additionally, we are looking for a home who understands and is ready for how much work it is to raise a puppy to be the best they can be! At Stitch's foster home he is eating 4 meals a day, at 4-hour intervals (with snacks & chews in between), is taken outside for supervised potty & play every 2-3 hours, wakes up in the middle of the night to alert his foster for a potty break need every 3-5 hours, and is on the fast track to success with housetraining. Stitch gets to hang out with and meet plenty of dogs, cats, and visitors both in his foster home and at the work office he resides in while his foster works. We love this boy so very much! We are certain you will love him too! Vaccination & Neuter status: Stitch is in the process of receiving his vaccinations. He will be scheduled for his neuter surgery in the near future, prior to an adoption. Additional info: First two photos taken at 8 weeks of age. Second two photos taken at 5 weeks of age.
