Dog Name: Utah Breed: Pitbull Sex: Male Age: 6-8 months old Weight: ~35lbs and gaining. He is expected to be 50-60lbs full grown (typical pittie size). Medical Needs: Utah was emaciated and malnourished when he came into foster care. He is on a refeeding plan. He currently eats four (4) times a day (mix of wet and dry food). Utah has “happy tail” and some bald spots on his feet and ears that are currently healing now that he is eating properly. Utah is scheduled for his neuter appointment on 11Aug2025 in Georgetown, DE. Keeping this appointment is required. Potential adopters must live within one (1) hour of Georgetown, DE to ensure this appointment is kept. Crate Trained: Yes. He will let you know if he has to go potty or may be a little needy for attention but otherwise, he is very well behaved and quiet in his crate. After a few minutes he settles down in his crate. He spends the workday in his crate, eats, and sleeps in his crate. Good in the Car: Yes. He rides well in the back seat with a dog canopy and a dog seat belt. Good on a Leash: Work in progress. He is a puppy. He pulls and jumps when he is excited. Overall he is good on a leash for his age. Potty Trained: Yes. This boy has not had one accident. He is great about letting you know when he needs go out. He gets very vocal to make sure you know. He currently is let out first thing in the morning, before leaving for work, right when returning from work, right before bed. Beyond that he lets you know when he needs to go. Energy Level: Puppy! High Energy! He is a puppy and loves to play like a puppy. He likes to hang and snuggle with his people but once he is done resting he is ready to play again. Eat, play, sleep, repeat! Dog Friendly: Yes. He has been good with our two female dogs. He likes to play and roll around with them. He is a young man who has not figured out that he needs to be corrected with mounting. He showed one mild protective grumbling with the resident female dogs around his bed and crate the very first introduction day but nothing since. Slow monitored introductions with furry friends would be best as this boy while he is figuring out his new surroundings. If yes, does your foster need another dog: No, he is perfectly happy to just be with his people and get 100% of your attention. Cat Friendly: Unknown. Foster home does not have any cats in it. Kid Friendly: Yes. If yes, what is the youngest age you’d recommend they be placed with: Utah is friendly with all ages of kids he has met. However, Utah is a jumper and may knock smaller kids over if not supervised properly. Special traits that make your foster special or that we need to know about them: Utah is a very special little boy. He has had a rough start to life but that has not impacted his spirit or his love of EVERYONE. He is the happiest little boy. He came to the rescue emaciated but has done very well on his refeeding plan. He loves to eat (don’t we all?)! He loves to let his people know how much he loves them (kisses for everyone!). He is getting so much of his personality back as he has gained weight and is feeling better. Utah is a jumper. He cannot contain his excitement or puppy energy yet and he shows that by jumping on you. He will be a strong boy when he fully fills in and grows to his full size. He is all tail wagging all the time. Utah has become more vocal as he has been feeling better, he is not afraid to tell you that you are not paying enough attention to him. Utah is eager to go on walks and to the beach. He enjoys being anywhere his people are and doing anything if that means he gets to spend time with you. Utah is a people’s dog kind of guy. Utah would love to be your loyal companion for life!
