My story

Meet Betty, a sweet, mellow Dogue De Bordeaux ready to find her forever home. She is the epitome of chill, at 4 years old her energetic puppy days are behind her. She weighs 65 lbs now but can looking to put a few lbs on. Betty is completely content taking a short walk around the block once a day and spending the rest of her time lounging next to her humans or sunbathing outside. Betty was recently rescued from the Merced Shelter after coming in with her two puppies. Betty’s puppies got adopted, but no one came to adopt her. At the shelter, she tested well with dogs of all sizes and is currently living happily with another dog. Betty lights up in the presence of her foster brother, and would love to go to a home with another dog. Betty also met a cat at the vet, and was uninterested, so she may be good with a dog-savvy cat. Prior to her foster home, we believe Betty lived a hard life. Her body shows that she’s had many litters of puppies in her few short years. Betty does have a few quirks about her, she can be fearful of normal, day to day things, such as TV screensavers (shows and movies don’t bother her), people on bicycles, and men in hats. As she becomes more comfortable, she is gaining confidence and working through these fears. She is incredibly loving with her foster family and enjoys meeting new people. Aside from her occasional fearfulness, Betty is an absolute gem! She sleeps through the night somewhat quietly in her crate (she snores), and is happy to nap in there during the day. She has shown no signs of separation anxiety and is completely nondestructive. She is learning to play with toys, and also enjoys playing nicely with her foster brother for short periods of time. Betty is also working on potty training. If you are interested in adopting me, please complete our application at 1luckydogrescue.org or reach out to Patricia at olveiry@yahoo.com with a little information about the home you’d offer Betty.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Betty, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
