River

My story

River is a high-energy, affectionate girl who’s looking for an active home that can keep up with her playful personality. Though she’s a Walker Hound mix, she’s not a howler! Instead, she prefers to channel her energy into play, affection, and collecting treats for later.River has lived with cats her whole life and has socialized well with an older dog of similar size. She loves attention, thrives on interaction, and is eager to be part of the action.River is both house-trained and crate-trained—and her crate is truly her happy place. She loves to bury her bones and treats in her blankets, saving them for later like a little treasure hoarder. She walks well on a leash (especially with a harness) and knows several basic commands, including “sit,” “come,” and “cage.” As with most shelter dogs, she may need a refresher as she adjusts to a new routine.To help her thrive, River will need ongoing training, daily enrichment, and lots of physical activity.
