My story

Meet Agnes, a calm and gentle 13-year-old soul who’s ready to find a soft place to land and a heart to call home.After the recent passing of her beloved person, Agnes found herself without a home—and a noisy shelter is no place for a senior lady like her. She’s used to being part of someone’s daily life and is clearly longing for that comforting connection again. In her foster home she has ignored the cats.On a recent Dog Day Out, Agnes completely stole her volunteer’s heart. She was polite and easygoing on the leash, happy to take in the sights and smells of a peaceful stroll at her own pace. She’s not one for rushing—Agnes is the kind of companion who helps you slow down and savor the moment. While car rides might interrupt her preferred nap schedule (priorities!), she settles in nicely and is always a trooper. Her favorite part of the outing? A cheeseburger treat, which she savored with pure joy and a happy tail wag.Agnes was able to go on another Dog Day Out recently and here is what they had to say, `Agnes is a go with the flow kind of girl. She just seems happy to be here! We took her on a walk and she loved getting to explore with us. She would thrive in a quiet home with a soft bed, some sunshine to nap in, and someone who appreciates the simple pleasure of time spent with a loyal, mellow friend. Agnes has been wary of the other dogs in play groups so far. Like all our adult dogs, Agnes will need to meet future canine companions before going home. Our shelter staff will lead their introductions in a safe environment to see if they are compatible. Agnes is spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and ready for a loving forever home!
