My story

Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure Milk #2 finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails).   Milk | 1.5 Years Old | 10 lbs | Small in Size, Big on Personality Meet Milk, a Chihuahua/Papillon mix with the cutest tan-and-white coat and an even cuter personality. Weighing in at just 10 pounds, she’s the perfect size for lap snuggles, which she loves almost as much as tasty treats. Milk had a rough start—she was left in a shelter drop box in New Mexico—but she has blossomed into a sweet, playful, and affectionate little dog. She’s house-trained (uses a dog door), crate-trained, and knows several commands like come, sit, and stay. She’s very food-motivated and takes treats gently, though she can be protective of her toys and food, so continued positive reinforcement will help her feel secure. Milk is a bit shy and timid when meeting new people, but once she warms up, she’s full of love and will prance around showing off her adorable ranger crawl and roll over for belly rubs. She enjoys toys, going for walks, and lounging around once she’s had a little activity. Milk gets along well with smaller and similar-sized dogs most of the time, but she has shown some reactivity to larger dogs and can be a bit of an alpha with her canine friends. She’s easily redirected with calm guidance and would thrive in a home with a confident, playful dog who can show her the ropes and help her feel comfortable faster. Because she can be anxious when left alone, Milk would do best with someone who is home much of the time. She’s a sensitive little soul who really takes her cues from the other dogs in the home and would love a patient adopter who can give her time to trust and settle in. Ideal Home: &#239&#130&#183 Someone home most of the day &#239&#130&#183 Another friendly, playful dog to keep her company and build her confidence &#239&#130&#183 A patient, gentle adopter willing to give her time to warm up Milk has so much love to give and just needs the right person (and maybe a canine  buddy) to help her feel safe and secure. If you’re looking for a sweet, spunky little  companion, Milk might be the perfect match.   If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives!  A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you.  The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog.  Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking  here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls. PLEASE NOTE:  The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter.  Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets.  Here is some interesting info on breed identification:  https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online.  We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting.  Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member!
