Meet Allan: Shy Soul, Giant Heart At first glance, Allan might seem like a quiet little guy—soft eyes, gentle spirit, and a cautious curiosity about the world. But give him a little time, and you’ll see what his foster mom sees: a deeply loyal, endlessly sweet companion who just wants to be near his person. Allan is a 2-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix weighing 25 pounds. He was surrendered to a shelter through no fault of his own and is now getting a second chance at the good life. He’s fully housetrained, has settled beautifully into his routine, and shows his love in the sweetest ways—by curling up beside you, quietly following you from room to room, and gazing up with those big, brown eyes that say, “You’re my person.” Though he can be nervous around strangers at first, Allan warms up with patience and kindness. He’s especially bonded to his foster mom and would thrive in a home where someone is around often to offer him gentle reassurance. He gets along well with dogs of all sizes and is currently learning to trust the world at his own pace. Allan is heartworm positive, so he’ll need to take it easy over the next several months as he goes through treatment - no wild play sessions or long hikes just yet! His ideal home will be in a calm, loving environment with a patient family ready to support him through the remainder of his heartworm treatment. With time and care, Allan will be ready to enjoy all the walks and adventures you can handle together! For now, what he needs most is rest, reassurance, and a whole lot of love. Allan has been through a lot in his short life, but he’s resilient, kind-hearted, and ready for a brighter future. If you’re patient, calm, and looking for a pup to grow with you, Allan just might be your perfect match! Animal Rescue of the Rockies believes every pet should find a wonderful and caring home. To ensure each pet finds the best possible home, we ask you fill out our adoption application so we can learn more about you and your household. We review each application in the order submitted and will contact you within 48 hours (please check your spam folder for our emails). If you and the dog are a good match then we'll connect you with our dog's foster parents to chat more in-depth. If both you and the foster agree that the dog is a good fit then a meet and greet is scheduled. We require applicants' dogs to meet ours to ensure they get along. We'll ask you to read and sign our adoption agreement and pay the adoption fee to complete the adoption when it comes time. Our adoption fees help cover the costs of saving more lives! A home visit will be scheduled within one week of your new pet going home with you. The adoption fee for this pet is $375. Our adoption fee covers the following: Spay/neuter Microchip DAPP vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Rabies vaccinations as age-appropriate for the dog. Adopters shall be responsible for all vaccinations after adoption. Please fill out an adoption application by clicking here . Please give us 48 hours to review your application and respond to you. (Remember to check your spam folder for our emails!) We want our pets to go to a lifelong new home, so thank you for your patience during the adoption process! Please email dogs@arrcolorado.org for more information, as we can't accept calls.PLEASE NOTE: The breed listed is the information we've received from the shelter. Shelters usually guess at the breed, so there is no guarantee, as we don't DNA test our foster pets. Here is some interesting info on breed identification: https://arrcolorado.org/category/puppy-dog-tips/ Our adoption process is: 1. Fill out our Adoption Application online. We'll contact you within 48 hours to answer any questions you may have about the pet. 2. If the pet looks like a great match, we'll schedule a meet and greet and ask you to fill out our online Adoption Agreement if you'd like to proceed with adopting. Once you've completed the Adoption Agreement and pay the pet's Adoption Fee, you can arrange to pick up your new furry family member! June 8, 2025, 2:02 pm
