My story

Quiet magic, for the right home. Mordecai is a cat for a person who is comfortable with quiet companionship and doesn’t require constant interaction. He is observant, gentle, and emotionally cautious — the kind of companion who watches before he trusts, and who chooses connection deliberately. He is not a lap cat and does not enjoy being held. Affection happens on his terms, often after dark, when the house is quiet and the world slows down. This is a cat for: introverts night owls people who read in bed people who understand consent people who have loved shy animals before Mordecai is extremely quiet. He purrs, but does not meow. He communicates subtly, through presence rather than performance. He enjoys the company of other animals without demanding interaction — watching other cats play rather than joining in, and peacefully coexisting with calm, respectful dogs he knows.(This does not mean he “likes dogs” in general; he likes these dogs.) Mordecai must have: A confident, emotionally secure feline companionMordecai relies on other cats to model safety and routine and does not thrive as an only cat. A quiet, predictable homeCalm is not a bonus for Mordecai — it is a requirement. No young children with grabby handsHe does not tolerate being picked up or handled unexpectedly. Humans without a timetable for trustProgress may take weeks or months, and that pace must be respected. Mordecai does not thrive in busy environments and is not suitable for adoption events or high-traffic households. When trust is earned, it is deep, steady, and meaningful. Meeting Mordecai Mordecai does not appear during daytime visits and should not be expected to participate in meet-and-greets. His adoption is based on temperament, history, and careful matching rather than in-person interaction. This is intentional and protective of his well-being. His true personality emerges after dark, once settled into a calm, familiar home. One small, tender detail: once the lights go out, Mordecai often comes when his name is called. Maybe he was already on his way. Maybe he just prefers the quiet. Either way, it feels like being chosen. He’s Mordecai on paper. At home, he’s often just Morty. Mordecai is not difficult — he is discerning. In the right home, that becomes his greatest strength. Age/DOB: 3-30-2025 I am neutered, tested negative for FIV/ FeLV, microchipped, dewormed, treated with Revolution, and am up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. You may apply to adopt at www.purrsandwhiskers.org/adopt ##2447119##
