My story

Meet Daffodil – Our Little House Mouse with Big Boundaries 🐭💛 Daffodil is a 5-year-old Miniature Pinscher mix who is, let’s say… not your average lap dog. In fact, if you’re looking for a purse pup or cuddle buddy, she politely but firmly declines. We’re not sure what Daffodil’s past life looked like, but it probably didn’t include a cozy couch or a lot of positive human interaction. What we do know is that Daffodil loves other dogs. Big dogs, small dogs, loud dogs, lazy dogs—she’s the life of the canine party. Running, wrestling, zooming around the yard—now that’s her love language. When it comes to people? Daffodil is more of a “love you from a safe distance” kind of gal. She won’t scream when you walk in the room, but she’s also not lining up for belly rubs. In her foster home, it took four full days (and some serious encouragement from the resident dogs) before she emerged from her crate and decided to explore. She now enjoys being near her humans—on the couch, in the room, just… not on them. Touch? It’s a no for her. She’ll tolerate it when absolutely necessary, but she’d really prefer it if we all just agreed to admire her from afar. Touching without consent? Trust: shattered. Setbacks: immediate. That said, she’s only been in foster for two weeks, and there’s hope that with time and continued kindness, she’ll become more comfortable. But we’re respecting her boundaries like the queen she is. Here’s what Daffodil must have in her future home: ✔️ Another confident, friendly dog (this is non-negotiable) ✔️ A secure, fenced-in yard (also non-negotiable) ✔️ A human who understands that love doesn’t always look like cuddles ✔️ Someone who thinks “quirky and independent” is exactly what they need in their life Daffodil isn’t house trained yet, but she does use puppy pads between outdoor breaks. She loves toys, a good dog bed, and being in the same room as her people—even if she’d prefer they keep their hands to themselves. She’s not broken. She’s not mean. She’s just Daffodil—unapologetically herself. And she’s looking for someone to love her exactly as she is.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Daffodil , please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
