My story

Say hello to McKinley — a handsome, lively boy with a love for play and a gentle, sweet nature. He was transferred to us at the end of June from another rescue along with his seven siblings: Apollo, Aspen, Denali, Forest, Fuji, River, and Shasta. Since then, he’s been thriving in a loving foster home where he’s learning all about life, love and belly rubs. Among the litter, McKinley is a bit more independent — he doesn’t constantly demand human attention like some of his siblings, but he’s still incredibly affectionate in his own way. He enjoys being around people and absolutely loves playing with his brothers, romping around and exploring whatever the day brings. Foster Mom’s Notes: McKinley is such a sweetheart. He’s not quite as needy as some of the others, which makes him easy to be around. He’s super playful and always up for a game with his siblings. He’s a really sweet pup. About the Breed: As a Great Pyrenees / Anatolian Shepherd Mix, McKinley is expected to be a large dog, likely reaching 90–120 lbs when full-grown. This mix is known for: * Being loyal, protective and intelligent * Having strong working-dog instincts * Being independent thinkers who benefit from early training and clear boundaries * Enjoying space to roam and a moderately active lifestyle McKinley will thrive in a home that understands large breeds and is ready to give him the exercise, structure and affection he needs to grow into the incredible companion he’s meant to be. If you're looking for a sweet, playful pup who’s full of personality and growing into a one-of-a-kind companion, McKinley is ready to meet you. The shelter is open Tuesday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM, and on Saturday and Sunday from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM. A meet-and-greet is required for all shelter dogs if you already have a dog.
