š¾ā¤ļø Mufasa Needs a Hero ā A Safe Home to Heal š¾ā¤ļøMufasa has waited long enough. This 70 lb terrier mix has spent far too much of his life in the shelter, and nowāfacing heartworm treatmentāhe needs a home more than ever. šMufasa is a striking brown and black boy with a fiery soul. Heās made incredible progress during his time with us: walking beautifully on leash, becoming more confident every day, and even making friends with other dogs. šāš¦ŗš¾ Heās cautious at first, but once you earn his trust, heās sweet, loyal, and listens when you call his name. He knows some basic commands and truly wants to connect. But hereās the truth: the shelter is no place for a dog to go through heartworm treatment. The stress, noise, and constant commotion make recovery dangerous. What Mufasa needs is a calm, patient home where he can rest, recover, and finally experience what it means to belong. ā¤ļøāš©¹The good news? Our team is ready to work with potential adopters or fosters, offering guidance and support every step of the way. Most often, our heartworm-positive dogs go home in a foster-to-adopt arrangementāso you can start building trust while Mufasa gets the care he needs.Heās come so far already. He just needs someone willing to take that next step with him. Mufasa is ready to walk by your sideāhe just needs a chance. š¾š¦I have tested heartworm positive. This means I have a parasite and need treatment. While my friends at HSNBA desperately want to help me, the shelter is too stressful an environment to undertake treatment and treatment itself is very expensive. The shelter has a few options to help with treatment, and if I steal your heart you should talk with them and your vet about what my treatment is like. For more information on heartworms, please visit the American Heartworm Society here https://www.heartwormsociety.org/pet-owner-resources/heartworm-basicsHSNBA lists all animals online from the moment of intake, and our listings are updated automatically every midnight. Some of these animals may not be available for adoption at this moment, but you can always call the shelter at 830-629-5287 for clarification on the adoption process or the animal's current status.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Mufasa, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
