My story

Name: Dakota Nicknames: Dakota Joe, Mocha Joe, Little Gentleman, Panda Pup Age: 10 months Breed: Boston Terrier Weight: 20 lbs. Location: Hartford county, CT Looking for a dog who’s part cuddle bug, part Olympic sprinter, and part goofball? Meet Dakota, the 10-month-old Boston Terrier who’s mastered the art of charming both humans and dogs alike—with a side of silliness and a whole lot of love. Dakota’s days are filled with equal parts zoom and snuggle. He’ll bounce through the house with all four paws off the ground like a cartoon character, then cozy up with his head in your lap while you work. He’s the kind of dog who moonlights as a cuddly panda and prefers his evenings to include a good mystery series and a belly rub. What He Brings to the Table: • A Harvard-level brain—he’s smart, confident, and already learning commands like "sit" (just don't tell him you hid the treat). • The perfect balance of independence and affection—he’ll explore a blocked-off kitchen with quiet pride, then return for snuggles like it was all part of the plan. • A social butterfly spirit—he’s met new guests daily, wiggling his way into hearts with his Boston grin and tail-wagging charm. • Excellent dog manners—he shares toys and bones like a true gentleman and reads the room better than most people. His Dream Home: Dakota is looking for a loving, active home that’s ready to keep up with his puppy energy and cherish his goofy, sweet soul. A fenced yard and daily adventures would be ideal. He could live with another playful dog or thrive as your one-and-only, as long as there are humans around who will play fetch, go on long walks, and let him do his signature “low bop” play dance. Small kids might be overwhelmed by his joyful leaps (he’s got “air Bud” skills), but older children will adore him. He’s 95% house-trained, crate-trained, and sleeps like an angel through the night with a blueberry bribe. Fun Facts & Quirks: • Sleeps standing up sometimes, head resting on the couch like a little weirdo (adorable). • Occasionally licks the couch… possibly in admiration of his foster siblings’ lingering scents. • Will dramatically “burp up” a bit of food post-meal, but he’s otherwise a distinguished diner. • Sometimes pees with all 4 paws still on the ground, which—honestly—just adds to his charm. • Wipes required. Dignity intact. Still Working On: • Not leaping like a kangaroo when you walk through the door (he’s just that excited to see you). • “Place” and “off”—he’s a good student and food-motivated, so training will be a breeze. • Loose leash walking—he’s learning and loving it! Life Motto: “Zoom with purpose. Snuggle with passion. Live like someone left the treat jar open.” Life Goal: To be your very best friend—and your lap warmer during crime documentaries. Dakota is one of those truly special pups who feels like he’s always belonged. He’s well-adjusted, full of love, and ready to find his forever people. If you're a family that leads with love, believes in playtime, walks, and snuggles—and doesn't mind a little licky couch moment—Dakota is your guy. Apply to adopt Dakota through One More Dog Rescue and get ready to meet your shadow, your clown, your gentleman, and your heart.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Dakota, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
