My story

Name: Gloria Nickname: Gigi. Mama. Breed: ~6 years Weight: ~63 lbs Before OMD: Throwaway mama dog who found her way to the city shelter. She had skin and ear infection and was very overweight. Since coming into rescue, she’s slimmed down to a healthy weight, cleared her infections, has her core vetting completed, and is feeling great now! Reminds us of: Gloria from Madagascar. Descriptors: Outgoing. Confident. Exuberant. Best friend material. Affectionate. Not the brightest bulb. Energy Level: Medium. Moments of energy, but tires out pretty quickly. Velcro Level: If she could crawl inside your skin, she would. She absolutely thinks she is a lap dog and wants to be with you whenever she can....but she will also leave you in a hot second for any joe shmoe willing to offer her attention. Word on the street: "She’s the friendliest dog I've ever met!" "She's just SO wiggly!" “She really is the sweetest thing!” What we love most: How ecstatic she is to see you. Her hugs and her cuddle sessions. Her subtle soft snore. How she tries to make you proud and listen to the sit command, but she wiggles and wags her tail so much that it's not a real sit. When she knows it's meal time and gets the zoomies and spins in circles. When she's getting ready to go to bed and needs to check in and make sure her people are snug in bed before she can officially settle down for the night. What she loves most: Playing mayor when she's around people - goes up to each person soliciting booty scratches and dolling out kisses and full-body convulsing wiggles in return. People. Food. Kongs and Benebone. Toys, and practicing the fine art of destuffing all of the toys. Car rides. Walks. Lazy mornings spooning on the couch. Working on: Maybe a little less non consensual mouth kissing? She is overall a very excitable girl and is still working on keeping 4 on the floor when excited. Kids: Sturdier 10+ kiddos only as she wants to smother you with her love and this will likely result in knocking a little one over. Dogs: It's complicated, but we think she would ideally do best as an only dog. She tested well at the shelter with dogs and lived successfully with a male dog, but she resource guards (with dogs only) and has a very dominant, pushy personality with dogs. Cats: Yes, has successfully lived with dog-savvy cats House trained: Yes! Crate trained: Yep. Gloria is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative and microchipped. She is available for adoption to residents of CT and surrounding states. If you are interested in adopting, please complete an application from omdrescue.org

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Gloria, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
