My story

Thank you for your interest in dog who needs a new home.  Adoption can be one of the most fulfilling experiences in your life and especially in the life of your new canine companion. A note to those looking at CPR.  We have no perfect dogs - but many of our dogs have proven to be perfect for a certain someone.  Our job is to find those someone's.  Our most successful adopters come to CPR not because they want a dog.  They come to us because they want to give a dog a home.  We urge all of our potential adopters not to fall in love with a picture.  While we like to know what you like in looks, a dog is more than a pretty face.  Our goal is to match you with the best possible pet for you and your home.  We want to create furever families.  Our descriptions contain all that we know about this dog today.  We'll update as more information is known.  Are you looking to adopt within the next 30 days?  If so please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and complete the application.  You'll find it in the menu on the left hand side.  You'll also find a total listing of all our dogs available.  Just browsing but interested in poodles and poodle mixes?  Please drop a note to applications@carolinapoodlerescue.org with your name, address and phone # and email.  We'll add you to our mailing list. thanks the CPR Adoption team   Date into Rescue: 06/14/25 Reason for being in rescue: Owner release via the intervention of a caring and concerned neighbor  Foster location: Dreamweaver Farms, Pacolet SC Special Needs? Ellie is spayed, up to date on vaccines and heartworm negative. No records were provided for Ellie, which means we cannot guarantee that she is a full standard poodle. Given this we cannot guarantee she is hypoallergenic or that she won't shed. Weight: 44 lbs Height: 24 in Spayed/Neutered: Yes Adoption Fee: $599 Fence needed? Yes, Ellie requires a physically fenced yard with fencing 4 feet or taller. What kind of home would be best for me? Patience, love, and time are what Ellie needs most. She’s not the kind of dog who will rush into your arms but give her the chance and she will grow into a loyal, affectionate companion who never leaves your side. She is incredibly calm and gentle, soaking up affection when it’s offered, and always watching with thoughtful eyes, eager to understand the world she never knew existed. Ellie does very well with other dogs, and we believe she’d thrive with a canine companion in the home. She draws comfort and confidence from dogs who can show her the way—dogs who can help her continue to learn what it means to be safe, loved, and free. Ellie is not just looking for a home—she’s looking for a second chance at life. A calm, kind household, with someone willing to offer her the love, support, and time she so deserves. In return, she will give you the gift of watching a soul unfold—of witnessing courage, transformation, and the kind of loyalty only a rescued heart can offer. What is my personality like? Meet Ellie – A Brave Heart Ready for a New Beginning. For two long years, Ellie fought to survive in silence. Neglected and forgotten, her once-beautiful coat grew into a thick, painful mass of mats. But beneath the tangles and trauma lived a spirit that refused to give up—a spirit full of quiet strength, gentle hope, and the desire to be loved. Now safe in rescue, Ellie’s journey to healing has begun. Her coat has been shaved, her body is healing, and her heart is starting to trust. Through it all, her sweet, calm spirit never wavered. Even when life was hard, Ellie remained soft and kind, never losing the gentle soul beneath the struggle. Ellie is learning how to live like a cherished companion—something that is all new to her. The sounds of a home, the comfort of a bed, the touch of a kind hand—these are things she’s just beginning to understand. And while she may be timid at times, she meets each new experience with quiet bravery and a deep desire to belong. Ellie is a blank slate when it comes to training, but she’s excited to learn. Whether it’s leash walking, house manners, or simply learning to enjoy a toy, Ellie is ready for gentle guidance and encouragement. Every moment is a new opportunity to grow—and Ellie is ready to meet each one with grace. If you’re ready to be Ellie’s safe place, her teacher, her family—she’s ready to begin again. All she needs is you. How do I act when I first meet new people? Ellie is not going to run into your arms. She may even seem aloof or shy. But give her a few moments, meet her on her level, and bring some treats and she'll slowly and gently approach you for love.  Other tips and tidbits: Records did not come with Ellie.  We were told she is about 3 years old so have given her a birthdate of 06/14/22.   House trained? Dogs can be house trained if they are in the right environment and are allowed to follow a schedule as long as a physical reason doesn't keep them from being trained.  A dog house trained in my home may not be in yours. We will help you teach your new dog this necessary skill and based on your schedule. Please note - we do not ship dogs.  If you are interested in adopting, please take a look at the distance between the foster home location and your location and make sure you are willing to make that trip.  Most of our dogs are at our farm in Pacolet, South Carolina.   To apply, please visit our webpage at www.carolinapoodlerescue.org and visit the tab on the left that directions you to the online application. Please note that when screening applications, we look at the entire home and then make suggestions based on what would be a good fit for your home.   You are not being screened for a specific dog although we are looking to see what type of dog interests you - poodles or non poodles, color, age, etc.  Others here may be a better fit for you.  It is very difficult to get to know a living animal from a picture and a short description.  Since we are constantly getting in new dogs, this may be a  dog not in our listings yet.  We want you to be very happy with your new companion and will make suggestions based on what you tell us about you. Thank you for considering CPR. June 27, 2025, 9:11 am
