My story

Boo Boo was surrendered to the shelter alongside another dog, when their owner was forced to move and could not secure housing that allowed pets. Described as a sweet girl, Boo Boo was dearly loved but sadly couldn’t remain with the family due to housing instability. In her time at the shelter, Boo Boo has shown that she is a gentle and loving soul who enjoys the quiet moments in life. She walks nicely on a leash—slow and steady, a perfect partner for someone who appreciates a peaceful stroll. Volunteers describe her as calm, affectionate, and incredibly tolerant during handling. She responds well to gentle affection, sits politely for treats, and has become a favorite among those who’ve spent time with her. Boo Boo would thrive in a calm home. She is crate-trained, reportedly housebroken, and used to living indoors with both adults and children. Her ideal day includes leisurely walks, tasty treats (frozen blueberries are a favorite), and cozy cuddle time with someone who will love her as deeply as she’ll love them. Behavioral Notes Per volunteer 6/30: Boo Boo was asleep when I approached her kennel. She slowly got up as I unlocked the door and stepped forward. Boo Boo calmly exited the kennel and shelter. Her walking pace was slow to moderate with no pulling. Boo Boo sat next to me while I was on the curb calmly watching the traffic and people while I stroked her back and head. Boo Boo sat very still and calm and was not vocal. When I got up to head back, she did the same and we walked calmly back to the shelter. Boo Boo sat on command for treats & took them nicely. She was so calm throughout handling. Boo Boo walked through the kennels quietly and calmly. What a pleasure! Volunteer 6/26/25: Boo boo is a gentle soul who just enjoys the simple things in life. She walks very well but slow on the leash. So if you’re the type of person who is always fast on the move, she would be great to have as a reminder to slow down and enjoy the time outdoors. She really enjoyed some pepperoni and being outside. She was not a fan of having to go back into her kennel. She sat firm on the ground and wouldn’t move lol. One of the staff members picked her up to put her back in the kennel. She was super tolerate of being handled and picked up (even though I felt bad putting her back in the kennel). She deserves a life outside of this shelter. 06/27/2025 In a previous home, this animal lived harmoniously with children. Medical Notes 06/27/2025 This dog has been observed to have shelter acquired upper respiratory infection (URI), or a "doggy cold". They have been started on medication, and will be monitored for resolution of the respiratory infection. They will need a veterinarian to examine them before they receive surgery, if they are not already altered. Plan: 3 tabs doxy SID for 14 days 06/25/2025 Microchip Found? Y/N: no placed here Eyes - red eyes Ears - dirt/ waxy Nose - clean/ moist Mouth/Teeth/Gums -pink and moist slight yellow discoloration on all teeth Coat & Skin - clean coat no fleas Urogenital - intact female - no tattoo present Gait/Mobility - no lameness Attitude: BAR Overall Assessment: 06/26/2025 Canine Ovariohysterectomy – Completed Surgeon: Dr. Libby Martin Recovery: Smooth Post-op care: Carprofen and Buprenorphine administered.
