My story

Meet Maya, a ten year old Pit/Shepherd mix weighing 59 pounds (although she should weigh less as she is on the chunky side).A Golden Girl with a Heart of Gold. Maya is a sweet senior lady with soulful eyes and a heart full of love to give. Recently surrendered to animal control, she came to us in rough shape with painful ear infections, but with treatment and TLC, she’s feeling so much better and ready to find her forever family.This chunky, medium-sized sweetheart is the perfect walking buddy—she strolls beautifully on a leash and adores every bit of attention she gets. Maya is treat-motivated (and will gently remind you if you forget!) and thrives on companionship and comfort.She’s looking for a calm, cozy retirement home where she can live out her golden years surrounded by love, belly rubs, and maybe a few extra snacks. If you have a soft spot for seniors and a quiet space in your heart and home, Maya is ready to fill it.Did you know YHS offers a `Foster to Adopt` program?It`s a fun way to make sure you and your potential new pet are the perfect match-like a sleepover, but with extra cuddles!
