My story

I’m Monaco, a strikingly beautiful, smart and loyal companion awaiting my perfect match! If you're captivated by a truly unique and intelligent canine, look no further! I’m a Catahoula Leopard Dog mix, ready to bring my vibrant personality and striking looks to an active and dog-experienced home.I came to the Humane Society of York County as a stray, and my estimated birth date is November 2023. I’m a medium-size guy, around 40-50 pounds. What makes me special? I’m very smart and I thrive on mental engagement. Consistent mental stimulation helps me feel happy and fulfilled.Once I bond with my people, I’m a loyal and deeply devoted companion. I form strong attachments and love to be involved in family activities. I can be reserved with strangers initially, but I warm up beautifully once trust is established. As a true working breed, I have abundant energy and a love for the outdoors. I would thrive with an active individual or family who enjoys long walks, runs, hiking or even dog sports like agility or scent work. A securely fenced yard is a must so I can burn off energy safely.Catahoulas are known for their independent and sometimes stubborn nature. This means I tend to flourish with consistent, positive-reinforcement training. I’ve enjoyed some classes at Zoom Room in Fort Mill, and I would love to continue my training there with my adopter. An ideal home for me would be a person or family who has experience with working breeds or high-drive dogs and who understands the commitment required for a Catahoula. I need a home that can provide consistent, positive, reward-based training to help me bond with my people and harness my intelligence. Daily vigorous exercise and engaging activities are crucial to my success.I know I would thrive with someone committed to understanding and embracing the wonderful traits of the Catahoula breed. Are you looking for an intelligent, loyal and active partner in adventure? If you wish to meet me, please call the Humane Society of York County at (803)-802-0902 to schedule an appointment. Please refer to our website for adoption requirements: https://humanesocietyofyorkcounty.org/adopt/adoption-process.htmlThank you for your support.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Monaco, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
