My story

Senior bonded Shih Tzu cross pair, Arlo and Kimbo, are looking for their forever home to live out their golden years. They were surrendered by their owner who could no longer care for them. They are 10 and 11 years old, neutered males, friendly with visitors, dogs, and cats. This loving duo would enjoy nothing more than snuggling up with you and yours on the couch and going on a short walk or two daily. They love walks, car rides, getting belly rubs, and all the pets. They can be vocal at times so a home without shared walls would likely be the best fit for them. Kimbo is a little on the fluffy side and is on a weight management diet. Arlo has been diagnosed with bladder stones and is receiving treatment. We suspect that they did not have a regular housetraining/walk routine in their prior home and they are brushing up on their housetraining. They can go through the night without having accidents now with pee accidents in the daytime decreasing the longer they are in our foster care. Is this the dynamic duo you've been waiting for? Name: Kimbo (darker colours) and Arlo (lighter colours) Breed: Shih Tzu mix Weight:  Kimbo approx 25 pounds and Arlo approx 13 pounds Gender: both male Spayed/neutered: both neutered Age: Kimbo 10 years and Arlo 11 years Good with dogs: Yes.  They have lived together for 10 years.  They are currently also living with a 1.5 year old Potcake and are good with her too.  Arlo is playful with other dogs at the dog park and Kimbo is more laid back. Good with cats: Yes.  They are currently living with a cat. Good with kids: They have not lived with kids.  They have been fine meeting the neighbour's 8 and 10 year old kids and meeting kids at the dog park. Good with strangers: Yes.  They have had a number of visitors this past 2 weeks.  They will bark when they come to the door and then run up and greet them and be friendly. Resource guarding issues: They are not guarding items from people/dogs/cats in their foster home. Ever bitten a human: No Ever bitten a dog: No Fears:  They howl and bark when they hear sirens. Housetrained: They do not think they had a regular routine in their last home.  Initially they were having pee accidents multiple times/day.  They are now able to go 8 hours overnight with no accidents and are going pee/poop in the yard and on walks.  They are having fewer accidents. Crate trained: No Good in the car: Yes Bark when left alone: They howl/bark when they hear sirens.  They are leaving them alone 2-4 hours at a time right now. Destructive: No Energy Level: Low Leash skills: They walk well on leash and appropriately meet other dogs on walks.  Kimbo is a bit overweight and has lower exercise tolerance than Arlo. Okay with physical handling/manipulations: They enjoy being brushed.  They were professionally groomed and did not need to be muzzled and were good for the groom. Medical issues: Kimbo is overweight and on a weight management diet.  Arlo has been diagnosed with bladder stones and is receiving treatment for the condition.   June 19, 2025, 1:33 pm
