My story

Name: Kaya Sex: Female Color: White Eye Color: Blue Birthday: 08/29/24 Weight: 30lbs, she’s a little peanut. We do not expect her to get much bigger. Large Dog Friendly: Yes, is a little scared at first. Small Dog Friendly: Yes, lived with small dogs previously. Cat Friendly: Yes Crate Trained: Yes, can be noisy at first but not for long, would not recommend shared walls (townhouse/apartment). Housebroken: Working on it. She is 100% puppy pad trained, we have not bit the bullet yet by removing them in the house. She will not have any accidents if she is watched and let out frequently but does not give any signals yet that she needs to go outside yet. Energy Level: HIGH Reaction to New People: Shy and a little nervous , but warms up pretty quickly. Kid Friendly: Yes, has gotten used to my 4 year old grandson. Training: Only sit right now. Grooming Needs: Typical Siberian Husky grooming needs. Have you ever owned an all white dog?! ;-) Fence: YES, a secure fence is required. This is non negotiable. She will not go to the bathroom outside if she is on a tieout or leash. Solo or Siblings: Yes, this is another requirement. Having a four legged friend helps her confidence tremendously. She needs another high energy dog. She loves to play hard in true Siberian fashion and is still learning doggy manners. From the Foster: Kaya and several other dogs came from a neglect case that did involve criminal charges. She had no interaction with people or the world outside of the home she was living in. So normal things like walks, dog social activities etc were all foreign to her. New situations and new dogs can be a little scary to her at first but she is so resilient and warms up pretty quickly. In her foster home she is learning doggy boundaries/manners from foster brother Teddy. She is very submissive to Teddy’s corrections. But Kaya and her foster sister love to play hard a good amount of the day. She would do best with another high energy dog sibling as she would probably drive an older/low energy dog crazy with all her energy and desire to play. She also has the best zoomies! Kaya would be a great agility dog. She is sooo fast and can jump high as heck :) Kaya is still fed her meals in her crate as nose diving into the other dogs food bowls hasn’t gone over very well. But food was scarce all her life before coming to rescue so it’s understandable. She can be noisy for a short time when first kenneled but does settle down. She has shown herself to be trusted not kenneled overnight but our house is pretty dog proof. Kaya is such a fun, loving and at times silly girl who would make a great dog for a husky experienced home willing to continue her journey learning how to dog! Adoption Fee: $450 All dogs coming into Adopt a Husky Minnesota receive care tailored to their needs, including: Nose-to-tail exam with a partner veterinarian, Vaccinations (Rabies, Distemper, Bordetella), 4DX test to check for heartworm or tick exposure, Fecal Analysis, Heartworm and Flea/Tick Preventative, Spay/Neuter prior to adoption, Microchip, and are evaluated for temperament and trainability.

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Kaya - Applications Pending, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
