Meet Maggie, a 4-year-old Great Pyrenees mix who was transferred to Big Dog Ranch from a shelter in Sumter County. She’s a quiet, reserved dog who takes time to feel comfortable in new environments. Her shy and timid nature means she needs a patient adopter who can offer stability and reassurance as she settles in. Because of her breed and temperament, Maggie would do best with someone who has experience with Great Pyrenees or similar guardian breeds, as well as general experience with dog ownership. These breeds tend to be independent, gentle, and protective, and Maggie fits that profile well. Maggie has low energy and enjoys a calm, relaxed routine. She’s good on a leash, knows basic commands, and does well with other dogs when given proper introductions. Once she builds trust, Maggie is very affectionate and enjoys cuddling—but it takes time for her to reach that point. Maggie would be a great fit for a senior adopter or a quiet household where she can build confidence at her own pace. If you’re looking for a gentle, low-key companion and understand the needs of shy dogs, Maggie could be a wonderful match. She just needs a little time and patience to feel at home.
If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maggie, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
