My story

Meet Maggie – Our Royal Fluffball, Maggie Moo Maggie is a 1–2-year-old, 60 lb Old English Sheepdog (with maybe 5% Poodle, but you’d never know it by her looks—her puppies looked full Sheepdog). Her stunning gray coat, her massive, fluffy tail, and her soulful eyes make her unforgettable—but it’s her heart that will steal yours. Maggie was bred far too young at a puppy mill and nearly wasted away in a shelter for 6 weeks. Her body score was a 3, and she had cracked her tail open and lost a toe. Since coming to us, she’s made a full recovery—gaining muscle, health, and confidence in a loving foster home. Now? She’s thriving. She’s ready. And she’s waiting for the family she chooses. 🌟 Maggie’s Must-Haves: Fenced yard A large, friendly dog companion (35+ lbs) No cats or small dogs Kids 10+ only – calm, respectful, and taller than she is No dogs kept outside-only or homes where the dog isn’t a full family member Dogs must sleep in your bedroom – if your current dog doesn’t, don’t apply Two bones at all times – this is how she soothes herself and avoids chewing her paw Her tail must stay long – she's injured it before when clipped too short Furniture-friendly home – she will be on your couch and bed 🚫 Not a fit for: Households where people yell or are prone to loud, chaotic behavior (especially men) Families who work long hours, then hit the gym for 3 hours a night Seniors 65+ or anyone who would struggle to physically handle a strong, bouncy dog Applicants who only want a dog in the backyard—not in their life Maggie’s not interested in being a gym rat. She wants a physically fit, outdoors-loving family who enjoys hikes, park trips, camping, and weekends full of play—not just lifting weights. She's a real-deal companion dog, not a part-time couch ornament. She’ll keep up with you on the trails, but she’s not joining you on your mountain bike ride. 🧠 Trust Matters: Maggie is shy at first, especially with new people. She will pick her person—and if she doesn’t warm up during the meet, we don’t proceed. This is non-negotiable. We are happy to offer multiple meet-and-greets to help her build trust. 👉 Because of this, applicants must live within 2 hours of Virginia Beach. If you live farther, you must commit to consecutive-day visits to build that bond. 💖 She’s our Maggie Moo. She’s silly, affectionate, full of love, and ready to be your heart dog. If your energy matches hers, she’ll be your best friend for life. 🏡 Ready to be chosen? Apply at www.coastalsheltierescue.org 📍 Fostered in Virginia Beach, VA – 2-hour radius preferred

If you have any questions or would like to adopt Maggie Moo, please reach out to the adoption group directly. PetSmart Charities does not facilitate the adoption process. Thank you.
