Barney (NOT YET AVAILABLE)

My story

NOT YET TAKING APPLICATIONS – NOT YET AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION NEW INTAKE 6/13/2025:   Barney - male - DOB 12/22/2014 - 34 pounds - Scottish Terrier Reason for intake:  In February, we were told of a sweet elderly man who had just lost h is wife.  Ninna went to the home.  The man was inconsolable.  He had four dogs.  He wanted to rehome two of them, Basset Hounds.  The other two, he just wasn't ready.  We took in one of the Bassets and we networked and found another rescue for the other.  Fast forward to now, we find out the poor man is now in the hospital and not doing well.  He told his groomer to reach out to Ninna to help with the other two dogs, one being a doodle.  Ninna found a rescue through a transport friend for the doodle to go north.  Ninna and Lola went to Benton Animal Hospital (where the two were being housed) to meet Barney.  Barney was so excited and gave tons of kisses.  We agreed to take him into our rescue, but FIRST... he'll stay to be neutered and get everything else he needs which isn't much, because there is a thick record of how well he was cared for.  We send our love and prayers to the elderly man and his family during this time. NOT TAKING APPLICATIONS:  Many dogs, particularly breeder, hoarder or senior dogs, can have multiple medical issues that need addressed.  Additionally, sometimes we take in young puppies requiring multiple vaccinations and/or quarantining.   In this particular case, we are not yet taking applications either due to age or possible illness or some other reason.  We will post when s(he) is ready for adoption.  In the interest of fairness, EARLY application submissions will NOT be considered.  Please note…  we cannot respond to messages/emails, etc., on dogs that are NOT yet available for adoption.  Please wait until the dog is available for adoption.  We will post him or her on Facebook in our Adoptable Dog Album pinned to the top of our page which you can follow at this link:  https://www.facebook.com/share/1B46skRWF5/ OR you can keep checking our website at www.roadtorescuela.org.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding. “The greatness of a nation and its moral progress can be judged by the way its animals are treated.”  ~ Gandhi Be responsible ~  Always spay/neuter, keep your dogs on heartworm prevention, vaccinate against disease... and if you bring a pet into your life, commit to that pet for life.  Blessings.
